The Ice Factory North Shields

The shell of the ice factory remains on Western Quay. In its heyday, ice was loaded directly into the hold of trawlers via the overhead conveyer belt, which was removed in ~2009. Many fishing boats, now have their own refrigeration system although there is a smaller ice producer in the fish market area.
