Two ships Bay-class Landing Ships proved to be the final demise of Swan Hunter shipyard at Wallsend.
The RFA Largs Bay was completed,  but the Lyme Bay over-ran both in cost and time
and was removed to Govan for completion by a rival yard.
Largs Bay has since been sold to Australia and renamed HMAS Choules (L100)
