Two ships Bay-class Landing Ships proved to be the final demise of Swan Hunter shipyard at Wallsend.
The RFA Largs Bay was completed, but the
Lyme Bay over-ran both in cost
and time and was removed to Govan for completion by a rival yard.
Largs Bay has since been sold to Australia and
renamed HMAS Choules (L100) |
