The Fishscape or 'Seascape' was commissioned by North Tyneside Council as part of the regeneration of the Fish Quay area. It was designed by Maggie Howarth and the locally-based Northern Freeform artists' collective in 1987. It incorporates two large fish, swimming nose to tail, and a shoal of smaller mosaic fish created by local school children. The original artist, Maureen Black and volunteers restored it in 2019. However it proved to be a futile gesture as the weeds and the ever growing trees block the view most of the time. | ||
