block at former
McNulty Yard, South Shields - October 2012
Sleeping up to 90 men in 42 modules, 21 and 27 metres long. It was fabricated at Tursdale, transported to Montrose for sandblasting and painting, then transported to Aberdeen for fitting out, then finally transported to South Shields for assembly.
|Financial problems prevented completion and it remained there until collected, in 2021, by barge 'Robyn S' seen alongside the quay|
|It was moved to Swan Hunter Yard, before moving to Blyth. Allegedly it is to be converted to be a hospital in South America. (From photo by Richard Athey)|
